How to overcome stress

2 min read · Yoga & Asanas

Our body is often under stress. What stress does to body and mind, how to find its cause, and which simple means — from changing your attitude to kiirtan, ásanas and meditation — help reduce it.

Our body often finds itself in a state of stress, and something needs to be done about it.

From the point of view of physiology, stress causes the adrenal glands to release excessive amounts of hormones. In this state a person's blood pressure rises, the heart beats faster, the muscles become overstrained and digestion gets worse.

Psychologically, the person finds themselves incapable of anything, and there is a feeling of having no energy. The result is physical illness and mental health problems.

There is a kind of recipe for getting out of stress.

First of all, it is important to recognize its cause. Perhaps a person wants something but doesn't get it, or, on the contrary, doesn't want something but gets it.

In that case you can try changing your surroundings and creating more comfortable conditions. If you are not getting what you want, it may be worth thinking about changing your desire.

Sometimes it is impossible or very difficult to change the situation, but you can change your attitude toward it and accept reality. When you get what you didn't want, it is also important to accept the situation and find the positive sides in it.

One of the causes of stress is fear. You can free yourself from fear through trust in life and the understanding that everything happens for the best, for your good, and that obstacles will never be greater than your ability to overcome them.

Repeating the universal A sound or set of sounds that, repeated with its meaning in mind, carries the mind toward the Infinite. Bábá Nám Kevalam also helps relieve stress. Singing Singing a name of the Supreme together, often with a simple dance; in Ananda Marga the words are Bábá Nám Kevalam. with this mantra fixes the idea firmly in the mind: "Everything that exists is the supreme Consciousness, Love."
