This page says what this website keeps about you, why, with whom it is shared, and what you can ask for. The text follows what the site does today; the organisation may still complete it.
Who is responsible
This website is run by the Ananda Marga organisation that publishes it. For anything about your data, write to info@anandamarga.org.
What we collect
- Messages you send through the forms: your name, email address and what you wrote, together with the page you sent it from and the language you were using.
- Gifts: the amount, the currency, whether it is one-time or monthly, the purpose you chose, and your name and email address if you give them. You pay on a page of Stripe, our payment provider. We never see your card number.
- Book orders: your email address and name, the books you bought, and how often the download links were used. Stripe collects your payment details and the tax address.
- The feedback window: the text you write, quotes selected on the page, a voice recording, screenshots and files, together with the page you started on. A voice recording is turned into text by a speech-to-text service.
- An account, if you create one to manage your own entry on the site: your email address and what you enter.
- Visits: a counter of our own, with no cookies and no third party. It records which page was opened, how far it was read, errors and loading speed. The visitor is a daily code that cannot be traced back to you and changes every day. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, you are not counted. Statistics older than 400 days are deleted.
- Server logs kept by the hosting provider for a short time, used only to keep the site running.
We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
Why we collect it
- To answer you and to send you what you asked for: a reply, a book, a letter of thanks.
- To take a gift or a payment and keep the records the law asks us to keep.
- To see which pages help readers and which break, so that the site can be improved.
Who else handles it
- Stripe takes payments, sends receipts and, for books, collects and pays the tax.
- Resend and the organisation's own mail server send our letters.
- Vercel hosts the site, Neon keeps its database and Cloudflare R2 keeps files such as books and feedback attachments.
- A speech-to-text service turns a voice message into text.
Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your data may travel there.
How long we keep it
- Form messages are kept until they have been answered and for a limited period after that, then deleted.
- Records of gifts and orders are kept as long as the law requires bookkeeping records to be kept.
- Feedback messages are kept until they have been read and dealt with.
- Visit statistics are kept for 400 days.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask us to limit its use, object to it, ask for a copy, or withdraw your consent, by writing to info@anandamarga.org. You may also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
