A new location in Haiti: starting all over again!

The situation in Haiti continues to be one of the harshest realities, both for the population and for the children’s project supported and coordinated for decades by the missionary nun Didi Ananda Jiivaprema. The great poverty and the destruction caused by two earthquakes were not enough; in 2021 the tragic situation did not calm down and a coup d’état took place. The political and economic precariousness degenerates and the country begins to be controlled by criminal gangs. The capital is also hit, where for decades an orphanage and the Neohumanist school coordinated by our Didi have stood. To date the situation continues to deteriorate. The children who live and study at the Children’s Home are increasingly shaken. People are murdered in the streets and in the children’s home they live in anguish. A few months ago Didi found herself forced to flee with the children to find a safer place. They found a property with a small rural structure on it. Basic services, electricity and water are lacking. They need sanitary facilities, housing and the school. Amurtel Italia has committed to sending some funds to give initial support, but there is much to do and all the Italian branches have made a commitment to do everything possible to help Didi and all the children.
