🌍 Over the past six months, thanks to the dedicated work of Didi Ananda Rasasudha and the broad international support of AMURT/AMURTEL, a number of vital projects have been implemented in Gaza, providing support to Palestinian families affected by the war and forced displacement.
💧 Water: Safe Drinking Water for Refugee Camps
🚰 Safe drinking water has been a critical need in Gaza’s refugee camps, where many families have struggled to access clean water.
✅ In response, two desalination plants were implemented in Gaza—one in North Gaza and one in Central Gaza—along with a solar-powered water plant in South Gaza.
🚛 In addition, continuous drinking-water trucking has been maintained across multiple locations to reach the most vulnerable people.
📍 As a result: thousands of families in Gaza’s refugee camps now have access to fresh, safe drinking water.
🙏 Special thanks to our Palestinian leader and civil engineer Mahmoud for his collaboration with Didi, and to all AMURT/AMURTEL donors and units whose support made these projects possible.
🍞🥣 Bread and Hot Meals: Daily Food Support for Displaced Families in Gaza
🍽 Food support has remained an urgent daily need in Gaza’s displacement areas, especially for families living in tent camps and for women who have lost their main sources of income.
🧺 In South Gaza, the Narii Abhudaya project supported a home bakery run by widows, producing bread to be distributed in refugee tents.
🤝 On the ground, this work was coordinated by our Palestinian collaborator and organizer Hadeel.
🧳 As large numbers of people were displaced from North Gaza to Central Gaza under evacuation orders—many leaving barefoot and with nothing—AMURT/AMURTEL also opened and sustained a daily hot kitchen in Deir Al Balah (Central Gaza).
📍 As a result: thousands of people received hot meals every day.
💛 Special appreciation goes to the AMURTEL sister teams in Spain and Ireland for their steady and continued support.
🩺👶 Child Health and Support for Medical Teams
🧒 Children’s health has been under severe strain, with many facing acute and severe malnutrition and limited access to basic medical support.
🤝 Through collaboration with the medical ground team in Gaza, the “Future Development Committee,” 1,000 children received medical check-ups and Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) sachets to address severe and acute malnutrition.
🥦 In addition, whenever needed, fresh food packages were also distributed to doctors and medical personnel inside clinics to support those providing essential care.
📚🧸 Education and Child Support in Gaza and Egypt
🎓 Education has remained a vital source of stability and care for children affected by displacement. Didi directly supports two active AMURTEL schools in Gaza:
🏫 Mariam School (in a less heavily bombed area, Al Zwawyda town, Central Gaza) serves 450 students of different ages and grade levels.
🏫 Esraa School (Al Mawasi, South Gaza) supports 35 children.
🧥 In addition, children received support with warm winter clothing and pajamas.
📍 As a result: 485 children in Gaza have ongoing access to education and a safer daily routine through active schooling, and children additionally received warm winter clothing and pajamas, strengthening stability and care during displacement.
🇪🇬 Beyond Gaza: AMURTEL Palestinian Schools in Egypt
📍 Beyond Gaza, Didi also helped implement two AMURTEL Palestinian schools in Egypt:
🏫 In Cairo, Meera Centre now serves 300 children and has 10 staff members.
🏫 In Al Areesh, Palestinian Bright Minds Academy supports 220 children.
🧠 Teachers in these schools studied war trauma recovery in collaboration with the Palestinian Embassy in Egypt. Within the schools, art therapy and narrative therapy are practiced to support children’s recovery, with sessions involving both children and their mothers/caregivers. Most of these children have lost one parent, and some have lost both.
