Earthquake update: the mission of our volunteers continues

The end of the Ramadan fast is a major holiday in Turkey when everything stays closed, and it coincides with the children’s festival, so our team was invited to take part in this latter celebration in the villages of Tavna and Ekinci. For the occasion the volunteers obtained individual and group toys and distributed them to the children.

The volunteers were welcomed as “heroes,” a feeling shared by the adults as well. Often even small gestures can truly make a difference. For them it was incredibly moving to see so many smiles and tears at the same time. The team’s day ended in Adana, to collect 300 kg of bananas donated by a plantation, which they will distribute to the children of various camps. The bananas are special because they ripened on the trees, so they are much sweeter than usual, and sweetness, as we know, is of great value, especially for children. Even a small smile has the power to send a wonderful message of hope in the midst of pain, despair and rubble. We will continue to bring help to the earthquake victims, hoping that the spiral of solidarity grows ever wider, and that the situation can be resolved for the best as soon as possible!
