Finding a footing in the Supreme Consciousness: how the thirst for the Great turns into love, and why love is the main factor of development in the psycho-spiritual sphere.
The human mind can be compared to a piece of iron that contains many impurities. Only when, through forging, heating and chemical treatment, the iron is freed of its impurities, is it able to respond to the pull of a magnet. The same happens with a person when they reach purity and feel the call and the command: "I must dedicate my life to spirituality; I must find the truth…"
When a person begins to seek and their thirst awakens, the guru comes to them, and they begin to practice. This is the final spiritual attraction — that is, the person understands that they were born to realize the Great.
The thirst for the Great is a fundamental human quality. And this thirst is transformed into love. When you fall in love with the higher reality, development happens very quickly.
First, good fortune goes with you everywhere; a kind of magic happens in your life.
Second, intuition and the higher layers of the mind develop. And it is with the help of the higher layers of intuition that a person comes to know the unknowable.
So *the factor of development in the psycho-spiritual sphere is love*. To cultivate this love, you need to turn your attention toward spiritual reality. You need to understand that right now, beside you, is the Supreme Consciousness, looking at you. When you are in contact with It, the attraction toward It begins to work.
The best practices for spiritual development are meditation, singing a mantra, the practice of the principle of brahmacarya (remembering the Supreme Consciousness in everyday life) and devotion. You are devoted to your spiritual path and to your highest goal, which is the Absolute.
From the moment love for the Supreme has been awakened, any samádhi becomes easy to attain; a person easily attains any form of yogic self-realization. That is why supreme love is the goal of all effort. And one must do everything to keep this love within and protect it from cynicism and coarseness.
