How gratitude lifts a person from the level of "this isn't enough for me" to generosity, service and a panoramic view of their own possibilities.
Everything that surrounds a person in their life — all their achievements, qualities, skills, objects, phenomena, "conquered" territories, including their own body — they perceive as a given, as something that will always belong to them. Living their life on the level of the manipura A center of psychic energy in the body; seven major ones lie along the spine., such a person not only gets used to and attached to everything they consider theirs, but also can never get enough of what they have: "This isn't enough for me, I want more." There is still much of the animal state in their life: dependence on the environment and circumstances, a lack of sufficient independence, control and freedom. They see no way out of difficult life circumstances and always find someone to blame for their misfortunes. Such a person does not see their own inner resources and does not use them.
When awareness rises and a person begins to live on the higher level of the anáhata cakra, the sense of freedom grows considerably. This leap upward is possible under the influence of the feeling of love, and also under the influence of the feeling of gratitude — a powerful, resource-giving feeling that we should use constantly in everyday life. On this level, creative solutions that were previously out of reach are found.
It seems that everything you have belongs to you. In the Lord's Prayer it says: "Give us this day our daily bread." It is for this that we need to be grateful, because every day I come to You, and every day I receive my bread from You. However, we need to understand that nothing belongs to me. Even if I conquer an empire and earn all the money in the world, "I came empty-handed, and empty-handed I will leave." On this level comes the understanding that creativity, strength, the capacity for work, intention, inspiration — these qualities are given; they are a gift of the higher power, not property. When you choose the understanding "Give us this day our daily bread" as your stance in life, you become able to see reasons to be grateful for every day. A wealth of resources opens up, and a view of previously hidden possibilities; awareness grows.
To feel gratitude even for the smallest and seemingly insignificant contribution from anyone is an expression of generosity; it is a very important secret of life. A person switches from the position of "give me" to the desire to give: the generosity of gratitude in any sphere, from the financial to the emotional, awakens generosity in the universe toward you as well: "the giving hand will never be empty."
Another principle of life that helps awareness develop is this: "No one owes me anything, but I have a debt to every being in this universe. I will strive to serve everyone. I will try to help everyone, expecting nothing in return." Reprogramming yourself for selfless help, for service, elevates and expands the human mind.
Regular practice of gratitude lets you discover great resources and creative power within yourself. A huge world of possibilities and ideas opens up before a person — more than a whole lifetime would be enough to realize. The limited vision of the animal level changes to a circular, panoramic one, which allows a person to realize all the potential that lies within them.
