Volunteers Restore Traditional Water Channels in Portugal
AMPS’ Streams of Care project is restoring traditional irrigation channels around Paúl and Ananda Kalyani Master Unit in central Portugal.
Across four community activities involving 124 people, approximately six kilometres of channels have been cleared.
On 4 September, nine participants from six countries cleared a further 200 metres at Ananda Kalyani.
Working alongside local farmers and residents, volunteers are helping maintain the channels while learning how communities protect their water resources.
The project is supported through ECOLISE’s Funding Fairer Futures programme and the Regenerative Communities Fund.
