PROUT-Inspired Community Movement in Portugal

The annual Cova da Beira Converge Festival brought together residents, local organizations, and community groups in Belmonte, Portugal, to celebrate grassroots initiatives inspired by the principles of PROUT.

Founded in 2022, Cova da Beira Converge is a citizen-led movement supported by the Prout Institute of Portugal (PRIP).

Current initiatives include finding sustainable uses for surplus sheep's wool and olive pomace, preserving the oral histories of local villages through the Cultupia cultural project, protecting regional waterways through the Águas Vivas (Guardians of the Water) initiative, and developing community-owned renewable energy projects.
