First reports and photos from Haiti

Report and photos by Dada Gopalkrsnananda

“From the first day, right after the earthquake, we began cooking for the people who had lost their homes and were living in the street. On the first day we fed 150 people, 200 on the second and 250 on the third. Today, many people have been transported back to their province of origin to settle elsewhere in the country, since there are no living conditions in Port-au-Prince. Nor will there be during the coming years. As there are many starving people and we do not have the capacity to cook for so many, we began distributing sacks of rice so that people can cook for themselves. We are taking in some children and families in the spaces of our schools. I am sending some photos.”
