Sharing Experiences on Refugee Integration

PAAIR – Project co-funded by Erasmus+

During the month of June, the AMURT team had the honor of welcoming their colleagues from Ananda Marga Poland to Portugal, at Ananda Kalyani. Together, they embarked on a journey of learning and exchanging experiences about the reception and integration of refugees in Portuguese society.

The itinerary of the visit included several entities dedicated to this noble cause.

At the Fundão Migration Center the team was able to observe the integration process in practice up close. Success stories of refugee families of various nationalities, already integrated into the job market and with their children attending school in Fundão, filled the group with hope and inspiration. The team had the opportunity to meet the mediators of the Migration Center, figures who play a fundamental role in the cultural, social and professional integration of refugees.

They also got to know Projecto Matriz, an initiative that runs projects with young migrant adolescents, promoting their inclusion in society and the development of their potential.

Another highlight of this meeting was the visit to the Fundão School Cluster, where the team encountered an enriching multicultural reality. The large percentage of refugee children and young people in the schools demonstrates the commitment to inclusion and quality education for all.

This exchange of experiences between the Portuguese and Polish teams was an important step in strengthening the support network for refugees in both countries. The information and knowledge gained during the visit will be used to improve integration policies and practices, which will be consolidated in the PAAIR Guide for the Reception and Integration of Refugees, ensuring a more welcoming and prosperous future for all.
