The general aim of the International Yoga Festival is to promote the philosophy and practices of yoga and meditation to the interested public, through lectures and activities led by professionals from different yoga schools in Brazil.

The idea of bringing together different people and groups involved with Yoga in one big gathering, with activities such as fairs, classes, lectures and workshops happening simultaneously in a single event, came to the mind of our dear Didi Ananda Sushiila, a nun of Ananda Marga, during a workshop held in 2015 by the NGO Dharma4all.
Didi went in search of partners to put her idea into practice and, with the support of students and friends, the project for the 1st International Yoga Festival (FIY) was approved by the NGO Dharma4all and awarded funds from the organization in November of that same year.
From then on a collective methodology was created that has been repeated and refined with each edition of the FIY. To make its realization possible, our work relied on a team subdivided into 4 sectors: fair and decoration, reception, programming and communication.
Every year, we dedicate ourselves to finding a public space that can host this event, opting for central regions with easy access.
In our first edition, the Festival was present in two places, both belonging to City Hall, so the fair activities, food stalls and workshops took place continuously and simultaneously at the Usina do Gasômetro, and the lectures at the City Council, and many people traveled to follow the program.
By the 2nd edition of the event, we were able to bring all the activities together in a single place, the Ginásio Tesourinha, which also hosted the 3rd and 4th editions of the Festival.
In 2020 our work was interrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic. After these 3 years of so many challenges we managed to hold the 5th and 6th editions at the Colégio Universitário, which once again welcomes our 7th edition of the International Yoga Festival with great love!
This time, our event will take place on October 10 and 11, 2026, and will be hosted at the Colégio Universitário, Av. Teresópolis 2805, Porto Alegre RS
