Giving Knowledge: Volunteer Paolo Bocchi Has Left for Uganda

Giving Knowledge: the Library in Uganda! Our volunteer Paolo Bocchi left yesterday for Africa and will travel across the continent to verify the feasibility of some projects; he will also follow the work on the new Library that is about to be built in Uganda, more precisely in Wasswa in the Lugazi district, not far from the capital Kampala, where Amurt runs a multipurpose Center. The persistent rains typical of this period are slowing the work down considerably, but we are doing everything possible to finish the work and be able to inaugurate it. During his visit Bocchi will take care of the interior furnishing; the desks have already been commissioned and 10 computers will also be bought to equip the library. It will be necessary to buy a power generator, since in the area there is no connection to the electricity grid. At the Amurt Center there is a school attended by 330 young students, and the library will certainly add quality to their education; in fact, a common space for organizing educational activities was lacking, and the new structure will also be a precious gathering center for the young people's social life. In Wasswa there is also a small clinic, the only one in the whole area, and a Children's Home where live some orphaned children whom Amurt Italia supports through long-distance adoptions.
