Toys for All Campaign
At Christmas 2007, AMURT Portugal carried out a small gift-recycling initiative with the slogan "A Moment to Give and Receive," with a view to making this a happier, more caring, greener and more joyful Christmas for everyone… especially for those who need it most.
About 270 toys were collected, mostly used toys in good condition, which were distributed to social solidarity institutions in the Greater Lisbon and Greater Porto areas.
The toys were wrapped directly by the people who donated them or, when that was not possible, by volunteers.
The target age was up to 12 years.
Main collection point in Lisbon
The available collection points were:
- Quinta das Artosas, Montemor-O-Novo
- Espaço Dharma, Lagoa
- Sintra Yoga and Meditation Center, São Pedro de Sintra
- Prama – Espaço de Equilíbrio, Lisbon
- Espaço Chapim Azul, Porto
- Espaço Divinos, Porto
- DaTerra – vegetarian restaurant, Matosinhos
- Essência Pura – cultural and recreational center of Valongo, Valongo
- Espaço Ni.Tuo, Vila Nova de Gaia
And the destination institutions were:
- Schools (Visconde Juromanha, Chelas, ..)
- Victim Support Association
- Centro Social do Bairro 6 de Maio
- Ajuda de Mãe
- Casa da Sagrada Família
- Casa dos Giestais
- (among others)
Students of the American School who collected about €300 and donations at the school, sitting in a car full of toys!
