“Become a Monk” Project Expands with Women’s Retreat in Italy

Six participants, between the ages of 25 and 30, attended the “Live Like a Yogic Nun” retreat in Italy from June 1–7, facilitated by Avtk Ananda Samprajina Ac.

The program forms part of the “Become a Monk” initiative, an urgent effort to address the shortage of Ananda Marga wholetime workers.

The week-long retreat offered participants an opportunity to experience monastic life through meditation, kiirtan, Prabhat Samgiita, philosophy classes, RAWA, and collective spiritual living. Following the retreat, three participants took initiation into Ananda Marga sadhana.

One participant shared: “I feel embraced, seen and lovingly invited to grow and learn more about Ananda Marga culture and spiritual practices.”

This was the third program under the initiative, following two similar retreats for men held in Sweden, with additional events being developed to introduce more young people to monastic life and service.
