AMURTEL Conducts Menstrual Health Education for 2,400 Girls in Nigeria
As part of the annual observance of Menstrual Hygiene Day, AMURTEL conducted menstrual health and hygiene education programmes across secondary schools in Nigeria, reaching more than 2,400 girls in 21 rural schools.
Held between 4 and 21 May, the programme provided education on menstrual health, personal hygiene, proper handwashing, and the safe use of sanitary pads, while also addressing misconceptions around menstruation.
Each student also received free disposable sanitary pads to support continued school attendance and personal well-being.
The initiative aims to reduce stigma, and equip girls with the knowledge and confidence to manage menstruation with dignity.
