Even with the ongoing challenges in the country, the AMURT-Haiti project is growing. The organization now has 214 staff members working across five regions. AMURT stands out from other organizations because it focuses on long-term solutions that help communities become truly self-reliant.
Right now, the project is running 22 initiatives to heal the environment and help farmers work together. AMURT also provides daily meals in 800 schools. Instead of using imported food, they buy directly from local farmers. This feeds the students while keeping the local economy strong.
In addition, local farming groups produce sea salt and moringa. The money earned from these products is used to fund small businesses run by women. By building these strong, local systems, AMURT is fighting poverty and hunger from the ground up.
