Earthquake update: tents, sleeping bags, socks and toys for the little ones distributed in recent days
The work of the volunteers helping the earthquake victims continues. In recent days, after procuring 60 six-person tents and 40 winter sleeping bags, plus over 500 blankets and 5000 pairs of winter socks, the volunteers went to Defne, another area among those hardest hit by the quake, also chosen by the Italian Civil Protection for its relief operations for the victims of the earthquake. Destruction is everywhere, entire blocks are in rubble.
The team also brought help to small isolated communities in need of anything useful to shelter from the cold and the rain. The survivors, all simple and very hospitable people, always ask the volunteers where they come from, and when they hear that they come from Italy, they put a hand on their heart and close their eyes, or close the fingers of their right hand and kiss it to say that theirs is a true gesture of incalculable humanity. Back in Adana, the volunteers tried to obtain many new soccer balls and volleyballs, jump ropes, notebooks and crayons for the 350 children in the camp at the stadium of Karamanmaras.
